Truants’ parents face contracts

PARENTS whose children truant regularly or are excluded from school for serious misbehaviour will be asked to sign parenting contracts, under plans in a White Paper published this week. Local education authorities and schools will have the power to impose the contracts, which could make them attend parenting classes.
