The UK’s largest group of independent schools is expanding operations overseas by opening in the previously untapped market of India. The Girls’ Day School Trust, which runs 29 schools in England and Wales, will open its first school in India next year. It will follow the opening of the trust’s first school in China, which is planned for September. There will be 1,000 co-educational places, including 700 for boarders, in the newly built school in Lavasa, a three-hour drive from Mumbai.
