Bjorn again

Dig out your flares, Afghan coat and innocent smile and prepare for another Abba-fest. But this time you can join in with the Bjorn, Benny, Agnetha and Frida lookalikes in Sing-along-a-Abba. For eight weeks the Whitehall Theatre in London will rock to the strains of “Money, Money, Money”, “Super Trouper” and “Dancing Queen”. Everyone in the audience will receive a goody bag containing props to aid the recreation of the songs, with lyrics projected on a big screen. No place for party poopers. Tickets: 020 7369 1735; www. singalonga.com. (See Friday Treats next week.)

Magizoology

Take children aged eight and over to a workshop entitled Fantastic Creatures at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester on the morning of February 9. The Firebird, gnomes, trolls, elves and a mermaid will all feature, and participants can bring musical instruments if they wish. At 3pm the rest of the family can join the youngest members for a concert on the same theme with music by Strauss, Stravinsky and Grieg. Tickets: 0161 907 9000; www.bridgewater-hall.co.uk.

The word on dance

Take would-be dancers to A Rough Guide to Dance, a lecture-demonstration by the National Youth Dance Company at the Royal Opera House’s Linbury Studio on January 21. Three dance works and a discussion complete the evening. Tickets: 020 7304 4000.

Royal rooms

Wonder at the taste of King George IV, whose private apartments at Windsor Castle are once again open to the public after restoration. Classical, Gothic and rococo styles blend in suites of interiors filled with 18th-century French and English works of art. Information: 020 7321 2233; www.royal.gov.uk.
