Rags to rich inventiveness

Attend an adults-only art workshop on April 5 at the Bolton Museum and Art Gallery, where artist Margaret Jackson will help you explore the exhibition Rags amp; Old Iron and use it to inspire your own imaginative artwork. Jackson is one of three artists whose work takes the museum's collections as a starting point. Matthew Roby is inspired by sewing machines and typewriters, Adela Jones by dolls, and Margaret Jackson by the decline of the engineering industry in Bolton. For more information: 01204 332250;

Cavalier decision

Enjoy an explosive time on April 5 and 6 at the Royal Air Force Museum at Hendon, north London, when a civil war battle is re-enacted in the first of the museum's outdoor activities this year.
