Hit the right note

Make music at Coma (Contemporary Music-making for Amateurs) Summer School 2003 (July 26-August 2), in the grounds of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Bretton Hall, near Wakefield. Students, teachers and musical practitioners at all levels will find something to engage them.

Celebrating its first 10 years, there will be a truly festive air. Some 20 workshops include creating a home recording studio, improvising with percussion and starting to compose. Play in ensembles and join in the festival atmosphere. Information: 020 7247 7736; www.coma.org.

In the picture

During July and August, children are invited to create a trail around the Victoria and Albert Museum using photography to chart the journey or to plot a photo adventure with an artist, make a mini-book or design a T-shirt. For information about holiday events: 020 7942 2000; www.vam.ac.uk.

Art surprises

The National Art Collections Fund is running a scheme to encourage people to look freshly at art by placing it in unexpected contexts. Look out for Rachel Whiteread’s Untitled (Pair) in Ely cathedral, David Mach’s Portrait of the Artist’s Brother among the pressed trousers at Sketchley’s dry cleaners, Salford, and Marcus Taylor’s Untitled (Quadruple Fridge) in Selfridges, London. An Anish Kapoor sculpture will be placed in an as yet unannounced location. Information: 020 7225 4875.

Join the RAF

Try on flying suits, RAF uniforms and other paraphernalia (disappointingly, moustaches not included) at the Royal Air Force Museum, Hendon (July 28-August 1). Other summer opportunities include quizzes, face painting and fun fairs. Information: 020 8358 4849.
