SLOUGH education authority is considering introducing a “twinning” system which could help bring teachers into the town.
Since last month many pupils at the town’s Beechwood school are only in class four days a week because of teacher shortages.
Slough now hopes to create four new posts with the teachers being shared by Herschel grammar and Beechwood schools.
The Department for Education andEmployment has been asked if a pilot scheme can be introduced in the two schools.
The project is being supported by the Education Action Zone as a way of maximising resources and attracting staff keen to work across the education spectrum.
Chief education officer, John Christie said: “Approval for the scheme could lead to Slough becoming a model for other local education authorities.”
