At the conference of headteachers' union the NAHT in Birmingham, England, last weekend, education secretary Michael Gove was heckled by school leaders who said that tough targets and Ofsted inspections were resulting in too much stress. Mr Gove said that he was "not going to stop" demanding higher standards.

What I do not understand is why Gove is picking this fight. To make education better he needs to work with the education sector!

I think he missed the point. Nobody has a problem with high standards, it's the aggressive negativity (that is) under dispute.

I agree with MG. His request for specifics about why Ofsted "stressed" headteachers was met with a revealing silence.
