The first in a new series of children’s books, Frankie’s Magic Football, by footballer Frank Lampard - Chelsea midfielder and the English club’s all-time top scorer - was published last week. Lampard told The Sun newspaper: “My eldest, Luna, fell asleep when I first read it to her. She was knackered. But the next day she said she wanted to hear the end of the story. That was a relief.”

Frank Lampard has signed a new deal ... Sorry Chelsea fans, it is with a publisher to write children’s books.

My daughter is reading Frank Lampard’s first children’s book. #footballstories #mixed feelings

@tompalmerauthor If it gets more kids reading, then it can only be a good thing.

@angelaswfc9 I agree. I don’t object to footballers writing books: I just hate Chelsea.
