Aberdeenshire Council has performed a last-minute U-turn and decided to appeal to the Court of Session against a ruling by the Scottish Information Commissioner.
The council had told The TESS before we went to press last week that it would not contest the commissioner’s decision to order it to hand over a copy of the job-sizing toolkit, used in the controversial evaluation of promoted teacher posts and then applied to salary levels.
The decision followed a meeting of the Scottish Negotiating Committee for Teachers last Wednesday, when Aberdeenshire is thought to have come under severe pressure to stand firm. The committee argues it is not a public body covered by the freedom of information legislation. The commissioner ruled otherwise.
