Teachers have the most stressful job in Britain, beating doctors and air traffic controllers, according to a survey of the public.

About 40 per cent of people questioned for the research said they thought teachers were under the most pressure at work.

Leeds-based Waterfall Spa, which conducted the survey, reported that more stressed women teachers were visiting to help them relax during the school holidays.

Pamela Petty, the spa’s managing director, said teachers were more stressed than ever.
