Teachers can win a private screening of The Water Horse movie, based on the novel by Dick King-Smith, for their class.

To enter, all they have to do is answer the following question. “The Water Horse is named after a well-known fictional castaway. What was the name of the real-life castaway whose story inspired the novel Robinson Crusoe?”

Answers should be sent by email to ScotlandsCulture@LTScotland.org.uk with Water Horse competition in the subject line.

Sony Pictures will organise a private screening of The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep at a cinema local to the winning school. The screening will be arranged at a mutually convenient date and time for the class and the cinema in question.

The deadline is 5 pm on February 22.

LTS has also launched an online educational resource to accompany the film. It looks at the history of the Loch Ness monster and the different theories mooted about what lurks under the famous loch. It describes the various sightings over the years and offers geographical information on Scotland’s lochs and glens.

It also includes lesson plans and suggested activities for use with primary school pupils.
