Uniform costs parents pound;1.3bn

Research this week suggested parents will spend pound;1.3 billion on essential items for their children ahead of the new school year. The average parent will folk out around pound;132.84 on a uniform, PE kit and footwear for their offspring, according to Capital One.

Parents with boys can expect to splash out more than those with girls, with boys’ uniforms and shoes costing an average of pound;138.02, compared with pound;127.66 for girls.
