Schools should limit choices in canteens to healthy options in order to improve pupils’ fitness and educate them about good food, says guidance from the National Union of Teachers. Steve Sinnott, NUT general secretary, urged teachers to set up breakfast clubs and tuck shops with fruit and healthy snacks. Vending machines should sell only water, natural fruit juices, dried fruit and bread rolls, he said.
