I started my teaching career in Scotland and have kept up with developments in the profession through my friends there. They have had maximum class sizes for many years and much better working conditions.

I have said for years, before Professional Unity was a twinkle in anyone’s eye, that it was because there are too many unions down here who waste time and energy fighting each other instead of for what is best for the future of the nation, which is the happiness of the teachers.
