Vocational qualifications will be available for 14-year-olds in all schools from September 1988, the Government announced last week.

Until now, the part one of the General National Vocational Qualification has been running as a pilot project in 253 schools.

But following the publication of a favourable report by the Office for Standards in Education, the Government announced the scheme would be placed on a permanent footing.
