Voices of citizenship

In Teacher Voices, a useful CD-Rom from CSV, we hear from three schools - in East London, the North-east and the West Country - where citizenship is an active area of their curriculum. A junior school has instituted a “playground squad” of helpers for which children are given proper job interviews. Secondary pupils have organised training on food hygiene, linking it with work on obesity and fair trade in chocolate and bananas, and set up a “safe and secure” campaign reminding old people about door chains and window locks. The filmed case studies are supported by informative interviews.
