Voting rights still up for discussion

You reported that I had told Welsh Assembly members that these members would not have voting rights. That was inaccurate.
If your readers check the official record of the proceedings that day they will see that I said that when the proposal was discussed with interested parties at a meeting in March, there was a divergence of view as to whether these independent members should have voting rights or should, in effect, act as non-voting advisers.
I told members that while I broadly supported the case for their having voting rights, we would consult on both options. That remains my view.
I expect to issue a consultation on the matter during May.
