Thank you for honouring my comeback via Jotter (“Call me irresponsible,” November 27). I would, however, like to correct one aspect of the report relating to attacks on fire crews.
These attacks on people carrying out their duties seem to be a curse of our age and, if I recall correctly, when thanking two officers at our lunch, I referred to the fact that the fire preventioneducation programme in the east of the city was so successful that it was the only division in Strathclyde Region, not just Glasgow, that had not recorded any attacks on fire crews on bonfire night. Credit should be given where it is due - to officers of Strathclyde Fire Service who work closely with schools and young people in the east end of Glasgow.
