If Gordon Brown wants to ingratiate himself with the teaching profession (TES, June 22), he should end the micro-management of schools. Teachers are under intolerable pressure to conform to the Ofsted model of education rather than using their professional judgment and integrity. The new Prime Minister should restore to teachers the freedom to teach.
