With regard to your cover story “Dissemination or contamination?” (14 December), I would like to point out that Messrs Sahlberg, Barber, Schleicher and Heppell do not represent the sum total of future-gazing in education. Most governments are unaware that teachers and their organisations know far more about each other’s systems than politicians do. Education International, with more than 400 affiliated organisations representing 30 million teachers globally, has called consistently for the kind of teacher policies that governments (alas not yet England’s) are waking up to. Its policies are backed by a comprehensive research network. May I suggest that this article is seen as the first of a series and that the next article on education globalisation focuses on teachers’ voices across the world?
