LABOUR has failed to reduce the income gap between rich and poor families, according to a report from a leading think-tank.
The Family Policy Studies Centre acknowledges that the Government has helped one million children out of poverty. But that it hs not helped low-income families as much as the better off. In the industrialised world, only Russia and America have higher levels of child poverty and infant mortality in Britain is 50 per cent higher than in Nordic countries, the report says.
