Among his numerous achievements, Sir Isaac Newton is credited with inventing the cat-flap, so that his beloved pet could freely enter and exit the blacked-out room in which he was conducting his experiments. The story goes that when the cat had kittens, the genius physicist cut several smaller flaps in the door, overlooking the fact that they could just use the first one.
