Absolute zero (0 on the Kelvin scale, or minus 273.15 degrees Celsius), is theoretically the coldest temperature possible but has so far proved unattainable. Heat is caused by molecules vibrating - at zero there is no vibration, but scientists have yet to observe molecules completely at rest.
