SOME 43,000 students in Wales will be eligible for grants averaging pound;700-800 next year, after the Welsh Assembly’s decision to spend pound;41 million on financial support for poorer students. The maximum grant will be pound;1,500 a year. The means-tested grants will be for students in both further and higher education who have lived in Wales for at least three years. They will be available whether students choose to study in Wales or elsewhere.
