NEARLY all reception classes in Welsh primaries now have less than the statutory limit of 30 pupils. Welsh education secretary Rosemary Butler said the September count also showed a 70 per cent fall - from 30,000 to 9,000 - in the number of infants in classes of over 30. The fraction of junior classes with more than 30 pupils fell from 35 to 31 per cent between January and September.
