Welsh mothers are less likely to smack their children than those in other home nations, a new study suggests. Half said they never smacked their five-year-olds for being naughty. A further 40 per cent said they rarely smacked. The researchers are tracking more than 15,000 UK children born during the first two years of the new millennium.
