Welsh support for English way

I was interested to read Bob Doe’s Platform article (TES, May 28) about my stance regarding the decision of Jane Davidson, the Welsh education and lifelong learning minister, to no longer make league tables available to parents.

I expressed my view in answer to a question at a Social Market Foundation seminar, but I am very clear that this is a decision that should be made in Wales.

However, Mr Doe is disingenuous to say the least in not quoting the front page of the Welsh edition of the TES, which was also published on May 28.

It contained the headline: “Give us more results: Welsh parents support call for extra information on pupils’ scores”. It went on to say:

“Two-thirds of parents in Wales support the English chief inspector of schools’ call for more information to be provided about Welsh pupils’ test results.”

I rest my case.
