Outdoor Education Tutor The Water Park CentreUlverston, Lake District

How does your day begin? For staff at The Water Park Centre in Ulverston, it starts with the sun creeping over the fells and mistrising lazily from one of the most beautiful lakes in Britain.

The Water Park is an activitycentre based on the south shore of Coniston Water. Supported by the Eric Wright Trust, it offerschallenge and adventure to school groups. Children may be kayaking one minute and rock climbing the next; in each case the emphasis will be on working together. It sounds ruffty-tuffty, but such activities aren’t about macho posturing; the aim is personal development in a challenging environment.

As you might expect, Coniston itself is used to the full. Water Park has a fleet of canoes and dinghies; activities quite often begin with a boat trip to the venue.

Tutors should be enthusiastic about outdoor education and the ideal candidate will have aninstructor-level qualification in at least one outdoor discipline. Teachers are welcome to apply, but there is a price to be paid for the combination of job satisfaction and location. The salary is negotiable at about pound;12,000.
