“I just care about the children I teach. I don’t want them to be faced with an abortion because they took the wrong decision,” says teacher Lynda Brine.
In today’s TES (page 17) she argues that modern sex education contains too much factual information about the details of sex.
Ms Brine, a Year 10 form tutor at a comprehensive in Doncaster, south Yorkshire, said she was not trying to preach to pupils. But all sex education needed to emphasise the emotional side of relationships.
In her criticism of Exeter University’s A Pause sex education programme, she said some subjects were unsuitable to be taught to teenagers.
“Other teachers say it’s just society today, but it’s us that’s creating this society.
“We don’t have to accept it,” she said.
