WE entered four very able Year 6 mathematicians to the level 6 nat-ional test maths paper this year.
In 1998 we entered one child and he completed it with five minutes to spare and dropped only one mark. However, this year’s candidates did not have time to complete the paper and found the paper very demanding. It did not compare tothe 1998 paper.
We asked the 1998 pupil to sit the 2000 paper under exam conditions. At the age of 13, he dropped two marks and was unable to complete the paper in the time given. Have other readers had a similar experience?
