Catherine Paver’s article (“Out-of-tune plans should hit a shorter note”, October 15) summed up perfectly the current mad obsession with writing lesson plans in which you have to cross-reference everything with the PLTS, SEAL, FS, numeracy, literacy, ECM and lots of other things which have crept into the system and make absolutely no difference to children’s progress.
She so rightly called such a culture “plan-centred learning”. Fantastic. Her article should be required reading for teachers, as should Phil Beadle’s book How to Teach (as recommended by Geoff Barton in The TES the same week).
