In response to Sir Bob Russell’s letter (“The other side of the story”, Letters, 19 July), I believe that compulsory history should consist entirely of British history and deal mainly with our great leaders, from Caractacus to Churchill.
The Holocaust would, of course, come under the topic of Hitler and the Second World War. I see no cause to teach the events since the creation of the State of Israel in 1948, as Sir Bob suggests. I am a kings and battles man - Anglocentric, Eurocentric and proud of it.
