* “My school has no sixth form but we have a steady trickle of ex-students from the local sixth form college coming back and asking for help with A-level sciences. Most of the problems boil down to their attitude to work.

Spoon-feeding produces good GCSE grades but leaves them unprepared for life ‘out there’. We rebuild their confidence by helping them through practice questions, and follow that with a double-whammy of an interview with the sixth form teacher and instruction on how to work independently. It seems to have worked for some pupils.” puffin
