RUDOLF the red-nosed reindeer had a very shiny nose. But, says the Royal Society of Chemistry, there is likely to be a sound scientific explanation for this physical anomaly. It is running a competition asking pupils to submit hypothetical explanations for Rudolf’s facial disfigurement.
