Every time anyone suggests that grant-maintained status has advantages over local education authority partnership, Kent’s chief education officer, Roy Pryke, jumps in and tells us about the quality of service provided by himself and his officers (Letters, TES March 31.

One of these days Mr Pryke will realise that it is precisely because of the quality of service provided by his authority that so many Kent schools have opted out.
