And still on the campaign. The Educational Institute of Scotland in Clackmannanshire has organised an education hustings next Thursday for the Ochil constituency. The only absentee will be Derek Whyte, the Referendum Party hopeful.

Perhaps he was fazed by the suggestions for possible topics supplied by John Patton, the union’s resourceful local secretary, who reminded Whyte of the burning issues such as the ordering of Standard grade modes for epistemological concision and the centrifugal forces that may shape the dynamics of non-criteria referenced assessment for Higher Still European studies. On the other hand, perhaps the travel put him off. The unlikely Scottish HQ of the Referendum Party is in Tullibody.
