The World Cinema Classics and Essentials DVD box sets, worth pound;40 each and available to buy from Pathe Distribution now, are a veritable smorgasbord of some of the best international film-making of recent years.

The Classics box set includes The Chorus, last year's hugely popular tale of an inspirational music teacher at a French school; Spanish director Pedro Almodovar's Oscar-winning Talk to Her; Claude Berri's tale of idealism and treachery in the French countryside, Jean de Florette; Kagemusha, from cult Japanese director Akira Kurosawa; and the Oscar-nominated Mongolian film The Story of The Weeping Camel.
The Essentials box set includes the spectacular martial arts action movie House of Flying Daggers; another Almodovar classic, Bad Education; Bernardo Bertolucci's The Dreamers, set during the Paris riots in 1968; The Edukators, nominated for the Palme D'Or at Cannes last year; and, from Thailand, the comedy western Tears of the Black Tiger.
Four runners up will receive a double DVD set of Jean de Florette, starring Gerard Depardieu, and its follow-up Manon des Sources, worth pound;20.
