Our January competion for a Toshiba Portege A100 laptop attracted masses of entries explaining the first thing the laptop would be used for, many involving protective passwords or smug smiles to colleagues.

Camillo Gray from Elstree, Hertforshishire said he’d enjoy watching his colleagues run to the head’s office with news that his new laptop was the direct result of a recent pay rise.

Helen Pearson from Kent told us that she’d set her screensaver to say, “Hands off my laptop - your time will come eventually” to keep the vultures away.

But the entry that impressed us most came from PGCE student Emma Clement from Swansea. She wrote this poem, which we had to share with you.

I am a student teacher Doing my PGCE Spending days and days in the library And queuing to use the PCs.

I’m working, working and working, And rarely get to sleep, My friends have forgotton what I look like, And my deadlines I struggle to keep.

With a Toshiba Portege laptop My struggles would come to an end I’d work from the comfort of my armchair And emails from home I would send.

I’d sip my tea whilst typing, And write my assignments from home, Please pick me as a winner, Help me claim my life back as my own Well done, Emma, your prize is on its way.
