Beth Macleod, a Scotland women’s international player, has been appointed full-time development officer for girls’ and women’s rugby in Scotland. The new post is funded by Sportscotland under the Team Sport Scotland Co-ordinator plan.

Miss Macleod, formerly a sports development officer with Stirling Council, will be responsible for building up the profile of the women’s game on the foundations of the under-16 programme.

“he Scottish Women’s Rugby Union is looking forward to working in greater partnership with Sportscotland, the SRU, schools, clubs and local authorities to promote, develop and grow the game,” said SWRU manager Barb Wilson.

Miss Macleod echoed: “We aim to give girls the opportunity to participate in rugby and provide them with a strong club structure to ensure they have the best chance to continue their development.”
