A fortnight ago The TES reported on an intriguing investment made by a syndicate of staff and parents at Hereford Cathedral junior school: a thoroughbred racehorse called South Sands.
The Diary made its own investment in the three-year-old filly this week, putting all our spare cash (pound;5.23) on her winning her second run-out in the 4 o’clock at Taunton yesterday. By the time you read this, we will know the fate of our flutter.
If she wins, we will be reinvesting our ill-gotten gains in a South Sands accumulator. If she loses, we’ll be claiming it on expenses.
