Working to solve dyscalculia

YOUR report on the meeting of experts in the area of dyslexia and mathematics (TES, July 7) seems to have excluded key facts.

While it is true that there is debate over the nature of dyscalculia and its relationship to similar difficulties, the meeting was unanimous that it was not "divided" as claimed by the report. Further meetings are to be held ad joint research conducted.

The overall conclusion was that: "In dyscalculia we are where we were with dyslexia 15 to 20 years ago. The difference is that we are now determined to work together to solve the problems."
