TALKING of the chief inspector (his shadows falls ever long), the Diary notes that esteemed TES columnist Ted Wragg was a tad disingenuous last week.

Ted was scathing on the poetic paeans to the chief inspector in the latest edition of OFSTED’s house journal, Standard. What he failed to reveal was that his ire might have been piqued by the (unquoted) verse which accompanied them. It read: HMCI Prefers ground that is high He shins up a crag And looks down on Ted Wragg.
