A HEADTEACHER triggered the wrath of parents after raising concerns about the weight of their daughter, who weighs six-and-a-half stones at the age of five. Andrew Holt, head of Tewkesbury primary, in Gloucestershire, wrote to Shirley and Stirling Beauchamp urging them to get diet and fitness advice for Georgina after teachers saw her struggling to get out of a swimming pool. A fuious Mrs Beauchamp admitted Georgina was “a bit chubby” but said she was fit and active and other children were fatter. “She gets stick in the playground but you don’t expect to cop it from the headteacher as well.” Mr Holt was defended by his local authority and the National Association of Head Teachers, which said he had properly raised his concerns about her health.
