Looking for a technique to get pupils to notice corrections on their written assignments?

Select a mistake, or an awkwardly phrased sentence from each one and write it on the board.

In teams of two or three, ask pupils to take it in turns to correct or improve the examples. Give teams marks and correct further if needed.

When pupils spot their own mistakes they take notice of corrections without losing face with peers. Thus, a tedious chore becomes a lively game from which pupils learn effectively while "marking time" is considerably reduced.
