Primary pupils with an interest in China could soon see their work on display at Glasgow’s Burrell Collection (June 4-20).

An art competition run by the Scotland-China Association, with funding from the Tom Murray Memorial Trust, aims to encourage an interest in the Chinese capital, Beijing, including its culture, people, history, buildings and open spaces, art, music and environs as far as the Great Wall of China (above).

Pupils are invited to submit entries to three age categories (P1-3, P4-5 and P6-7), showing evidence of China-related research. Credit will be given for use of traditional Chinese techniques. Entries must be registered in advance and work received by May 16. Written entries, two- or three-dimensional artwork, videos and DVDs are acceptable.
