You can’t be serious

I’m writing in response to “Keep Out! No parents allowed” (What keeps me awake at night, 21 September).

It’s fairly obvious, given the fact that pupils who attend secondary school don’t generally need anyone to tie their laces, listen to their reading, deal with glue and mop up tears, why parents aren’t welcomed into secondary schools in the same way they were at primary. Come up with sensible reasons for including them and I might listen.

Secondary school teacher, Preston.
