The country’s youngest further education college principal has been appointed at Lowestoft College three months after its previous head took early retirement. Debbie Shandley, 36, currently deputy principal at Rowley Regis College in the West Midlands, will take up the post at the start of next term. She replaces Angeline Nicholson who was suspended by governors last September. Miss Shandley, a qualified lawyer, pledged to develop the relationship between the college and local schools. She also aims to boost marketing to raise the profile of Lowestoft and to expand the college’s curriculum.
