Youngsters are being invited to take part in an essay-writing competition on the general election.
The Parliamentary Press Gallery is inviting 14 to 18-year-olds to write articles on the policies they think the political parties should include in their election manifestos and why these would be attractive to voters.
The winners will be invited to spend a day in Westminster early next year.
Last year’s competition was deluged with more than 400 entries from budding young politicos when it launched last year.
The 22 winners spent a day with Tony Blair, Michael Martin, the speaker of the House of Commons, and Andrew Marr, the BBC’s political editor.
For the competition, supported by The TES, Years 10-11 entrants will have to write a letter to the leader of a political party suggesting new ideas for their manifesto.
Years 12-13 are being asked to write an article on how voters can be persuaded to participate in the next general election. Closing date for entries is Friday November 26.
