Youths on board

North Ayrshire Council launched a new Youth Citizenship and Participation Strategy at last week's meeting of the 110-strong North Ayrshire Youth Council.

The 12 to 18-year-old delegates, who represent all nine secondary schools in North Ayrshire, gathered at St Matthew's Academy in Saltcoats, where they heard from head of education Mary Docherty how young people can play an active role in the community. They also met with Children's Commissioner Tam Baillie to tell him what they think he can do to protect the rights and interests of young people.
