SCIENCE RESEARCH IN THE LIBRARY

This can be used by Science teachers and Librarians who wish to teach Year 7 or 8 students how to research a Scientist or field of Science using only Library resources. Learning objectives: students learn research skills as well as being exposed to library usage. There are 3 tasks: a warm up task - finding the definitions of key words which involves dictionary work; then the major task is a fact finding mission on a chosen scientist/field of science; and finally an extension task presenting the information on a poster and presenting it to class. The librarian can help amend the task according to the resources they have in the library.
